Auto Enrolment Postponement
What is Postponement?
An employer can postpone auto-enrolment for up to 3 months from certain dates. One of the times they can postpone is from the start date of their duties. One of the main reasons an employer might decide to postpone is if they have temporary or short-term employees.
SmartWork’s Process
- We have elected to defer automatic enrolment for the first three months of our workers’ employment.
- The end of the three-month period is known as the Deferral Date.
- On the Deferral Date, if the worker meets the criteria, SmartWork will automatically enrol them into the Pension Scheme through The People’s Pension. The first pension deduction is taken and displayed on the payslip.
- Following this, workers will receive a Welcome Pack from The People’s Pension, which will be sent directly to them, containing their scheme details and opt-out information if they choose not to participate.
