All Other Statutory Entitlements Listed
1. Statutory Annual Leave
- Entitlement: 5.6 weeks (28 days for full-time employees) per year, including public holidays.
- Pay: Normal full pay (not a separate statutory payment).
- Law: Working Time Regulations 1998.
2. Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
- Entitlement: Up to 28 weeks of SSP.
- Rate (2024–25): £116.75 per week (paid by employer).
- Eligibility: Employee must earn at least £123/week and be sick for 4+ consecutive days.
- Law: Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992.
3. Statutory Maternity Leave (SML)
- Entitlement: Up to 52 weeks (26 weeks Ordinary + 26 weeks Additional).
- Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP):
- First 6 weeks: 90% of average weekly earnings (AWE).
- Next 33 weeks: £184.03/week or 90% of AWE (whichever is lower).
- Eligibility: Must have worked continuously for 26 weeks by the 15th week before the baby is due and earn ≥ £123/week.
- Law: Employment Rights Act 1996; Maternity and Parental Leave etc. Regulations 1999.
4. Statutory Paternity Leave (SPL)
- Entitlement: Up to 2 weeks (can be taken separately or together).
- Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP): £184.03/week or 90% of AWE (whichever is lower).
- Eligibility: Partner of the mother/adopter, must meet service and earnings thresholds.
- Law: Paternity and Adoption Leave Regulations 2002.
5. Statutory Adoption Leave (SAL)
- Entitlement: Up to 52 weeks (26 ordinary + 26 additional).
- Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP):
- First 6 weeks: 90% of AWE.
- Next 33 weeks: £184.03/week or 90% of AWE (whichever is lower).
- Law: Paternity and Adoption Leave Regulations 2002.
6. Shared Parental Leave (ShPL)
- Entitlement: Up to 50 weeks of leave and 37 weeks of pay shared between parents.
- Statutory Shared Parental Pay (ShPP): £184.03/week or 90% of AWE (whichever is lower).
- Law: Shared Parental Leave Regulations 2014.
7. Parental Bereavement Leave
- Entitlement: Up to 2 weeks following the death of a child (under 18) or stillbirth (after 24 weeks).
- Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (SPBP): £184.03/week or 90% of AWE (whichever is lower).
- Law: Parental Bereavement Leave and Pay Act 2018.
8. Unpaid Parental Leave
- Entitlement: Up to 18 weeks of unpaid leave per child, before the child’s 18th birthday.
- Eligibility: Must have 1+ year’s continuous service.
- Law: Maternity and Parental Leave etc. Regulations 1999.
9. Time Off for Dependants
- Entitlement: Reasonable unpaid time off to deal with an emergency involving a dependant.
- Law: Employment Rights Act 1996.
10. Other Special Statutory Rights
- Jury service leave: Must allow time off (may be unpaid unless employer chooses to pay).
- Public duties leave: Reasonable time off for certain public roles (e.g. magistrate, school governor).
- Antenatal and adoption appointments: Paid time off for pregnant employees and unpaid time for partners.
